The Air Force Role
The history of the air force of the United Kingdom (RAF), spans nearly a century of British military aviation. The RAF was founded in 1918, toward the end of First World War.
During the Second World War it was responsible for the aerial defence of Great Britain, the strategic bombing campaign against Germany and tactical support to the British Army around the world.
Now the role of the Royal Air Force is expressed by:
• Protecting the UK and her interests 24/7 ;
• Providing the Nation with choice in times of crisis ;
• Maximising the return on public investment .
